Applications of Synesthesia in Vocal Music - Chapter 2 of Human-Computer Interaction
In vocal music, synesthetic experiences can be seen frequently, whether in performance, appreciation, teaching, or learning. For example: (1) 'Clear pronunciation and full tone', 'the voice shouldn't be too straight' - this reflects an auditory-visual synesthetic experience. (2) 'Sweet voice', 'the voice is too dry' - an auditory-gustatory synesthetic experience. (3) 'The attack is too hard', 'the voice is too rough' - an auditory-tactile synesthetic experience. These synesthetic phenomena are common in the early stages of vocal music learning and play an important role through association in teaching and learning.
